Testimonies

One day, I went to our local grocery store. I decided to give a card only to somebody that I know. I've been here almost 50 years now, so I do know a lot of people. I actually walked the full length of the store, and when I got to the produce section, there was somebody I know. So, I went and started talking to her. She told me that the girl she had with her was her granddaughter and that she had taken her granddaughter's phone away because this is Sunday --- a family day when we shouldn't be looking at things on our phone. And I thought, 'Hmmm, this lady needs one of these cards.' So, I asked her if she listened to stories online and that this was a book on Christian history --- starting with the fall of Jerusalem down to our day. She said, "Yes!" And she grabbed the card and started kissing it. So, I pray that she will listen to it.

I went to my bank the other day wearing a t-shirt with the "Daniel 2 statue" on the front. The teller whom I interacted with said, 'I really like your shirt'. So, I asked if she would like to know more about this and she said yes! I gave her a G.C. card I keep in my wallet and told her how it worked and she was quite happy to receive it. Then I asked her if she has children and she said no, but I have nieces and nephews. I asked if they might enjoy good Christian children's programs they could view on their phones, and she excitedly said yes. Again, from my wallet, I gave her a children's program card and she thanked me twice. I have not been back to the bank since but hope to see her and ask if she and the children enjoyed what they viewed.

I was in town and went over to a store. Then I realized that it was a bar because a sign said you had to be 21 to enter. I'm over 21, so I entered. When the clerk asked me what I wanted, I said, "I'm wondering if you like to listen to stories online." She said, "Yes." So, I said, "Well, this is a book about Christian history starting with the fall of Jerusalem. I've just listened to the entire book, and it blessed me so much that I got some cards so I could share them with my friends in town here. She said, "Oh, this is just what we need. Can I have some more so I can hand them out to my friends?" I had the best reception from the girls at the bar.

We were looking for a place to get gas. We pulled into a station. While I was sitting there, I noticed a man that had a black skirt on and a white collar-shirt. I thought, 'I wonder if that's a Catholic priest. I bet it is. I have a Great Controversy card right here. I would love to give it to him.' So, I took the card out and asked the Lord to put the Holy Spirit in me. I said, "I see that you're a man of faith. I have a card here that talks about religious history. It's a book, you can watch videos about it, you can listen to it, you can read it online. This has really had an impact on my life." "Sure!" He took the card and looked at it. I asked, "You're a priest, right?" "Yes." "How long have you been a priest?" "Eleven years." It was definitely a Divine appointment, being at the same gas station at the same time he was.

Appointments! Appointments! Sometimes annoying. And time consuming. But if we view them as "mini mission trips," they can be life-changing. One such divine appointment was at the dentist. Another was at a hair salon. The dental staff had already seen a video that I had sent them --- a moral lesson about the current dental treatment. Thus, the team knows that I'm a woman of faith. (And no one seemed to mind or treat me differently. I think the friendly witnessing may actually be freeing them up to honor their own faith journey.) At the latest appointment, I brought a new tool: The Great Controversy Card in Spanish. Español being the native language of both my dentist and her assistant, they each received a Spanish GC card. They were intrigued. God knows when they will be ready to scan the QR code to Watch, Listen, and Read. Perhaps they already have? And the ripple effects may have already started. When later giving my hair stylist two GC cards (one in English and one in Spanish), she had an idea: to display both cards at her station, so that each of her clients can scan the QR code. Brilliant! It was a reminder that each card shared won't likely stop there but can reach many more souls. Let's stay faithful and keep our appointments in the Lord's work.

On Sabbath afternoon when I was handing out cards in a park, I noticed a long-haired young man over in the corner underneath a shelter. So, I went over to talk to him. And I asked him if he liked to listen to stories online. I think he kind of said, "Yes." So I said, "Well, there's a QR code right here. You're young. You know how to use a QR code." And he said, "No, I don't." So I said, "Well, right down here, in small print, you can see the web address for the same thing. You probably know how to use web addresses." And he said he did. Then he started sharing with me that he had just been baptized and he would like to walk in the way of the Lord. There are some struggles that he's having in his life. And I got to really talk to him and encourage him to read his Bible and to listen to this. I said, "I listened to this book, and I was so blessed." And then he asked, "What church do you go to?" I told him that I go to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and asked him if he knew where it was. He said, "No." So I told him. He said, "Oh, yeah! I know where that church is! I ride my bike by there. I've been wanting to go to that church." So, before we parted, I got to place my hand on his shoulder and pray for him. And I pray that the Lord will strengthen him and his walk with the Lord. And may we see him in the Kingdom.

Yesterday as I went to town to hand out cards the town seemed empty of people. The Twilight Museum was closed. However, I prayed and visited with anyone who would visit. It wasn't long until I was seeing the same people more than once. One fellow as I approached him, whipped out his GC card and showed me that I had already given him a card. Because the town was so empty of people, I asked permission to go into one Twilight Store. They said Yes. So my pup, Levi and I strolled around the store. Before I left, I found a clerk to talk to and sure enough she accepted a card and we talked about the Christian faith. Thank you so much for these simple easy to share cards. These are a blessing straight from heaven.
